some great movies coming up.

Manchester by the Sea looks awesome and I think will be one of the very best of the year. The trailer was unreal the other day in the theatre. Really looking forward to seeing Michelle Williams in that role and I can't ever get enough of Casey Affleck.

Fantastic Beasts is opening and I think it's one of those movies that will leave your heart so happy and filled that you'll feel great....then you'll think about the movie after and wonder what made you feel like that (cuz I don't think it'll exactly be an Arrival in terms of cerebral challenge).

love this time of year for movies. I hear that Moonlight (which I recently reviewed here) got a 40% uptick in box office sales right after the election cuz it's such a feel-good type of healing movie on racial issues and stuff. Really hope you guys see it.

I just assumed that they were hooking on the side, and that a prime-time sitcom wouldn't get into the sordid details. I also assume that the characters on Friends pooped from time to time, even though we never saw that on screen either.

Watched Sky High with the kids again this weekend.

What a great movie. The main actor is a bit stiff, but it's the strong supporting cast that really elevates the film. So many great lines and expressions.
Easily my favorite of the Kurt Russell/Disney pairings and even a top 5 Kurt Russell film.

Coach Boomer: Did I mention she's not just her twin, but her *evil* twin?

Mr. Medulla: This Friday, you say?

Coach Boomer: Medulla, you dog!

agree!

5. Backdraft
4. Sky High
3. Tombstone
2. The Thing
1. Grindhouse

Kurt Russell is the epitome of actors in lots of good movies but never a great one (i know you guys LOVE The Thing here, but that's cuz u r dum)

we'll see if Guardians II changes that...

dude, and you left out another set of good ones:

Escape from New York
Big Trouble in Little China
Captain Ron
Tango and Cash
Soldier
Executive Decision
Breakdown (this movie is horrible to watch, but well done)
Bone Tomahawk

Some people liked:
Furious 7
Stargate
Used Cars

but you said top 5! I almost put Executive Decision in my list but there's no room.

HOW CAN YOU PUT SOLIDER?! Much like Under Siege, it's one of those really good bad movies.

Can we watch it and make a drinking game each time he says, "sir"?

I've watched Soldier a couple of times. I've only seen Schindlers List once. Clearly Soldier is a top tier movie and you are underrating it Barney.

I loved Kurt Russel in Hateful 8.

But then, I loved him in every movie. Because, Kurt Russel and everything he does is great.

Good thing he wasn't in Sicario or you'd have egg on your face

He would make Sicario a masterpiece. Kurt Russel is an elixir to all problems.

If you are a Kurt Russel fan, you should read No Hero by Jonathan Wood

He would have been great in that role that Shane played. Actually, he'd do good in the Josh Brolin role as well

Kurt Russell can play all roles.

I actually read No Hero two years ago, and I can't remember anything about it that has anything to do with Kurt Russell.

THAT. But I would have enjoyed Sicario if it had only one Kurt Russel in it. That's actually another terrible flaw of that terrible movie, it's absolute and indisputable lack of Kurt Russell-ness.

The world desperately needs a "Being Kurt Russell". John Malkovich can co-star, too.
