What board games are you BUYING?

Got mine last week and I agree. Just need to finish my gameroom and have a 5 player throw down.

I was doing okay but September has been a rough month. A personal tragedy, some absurd friction at work, and a few other things have gutted me, and I have sadly turned to the hated "retail therapy", a defeated man. I forfeited the challenge and pre-ordered Alien Artifacts from Portal, Venus Next (a Terraforming Mars expansion) from Stronghold, and Fallout from FFG. Because I'm super smart and effective, I retail therapied with three things that won't actually be in my hands any time soon. I'm a big winner.

Based on your posts here, it does sound like you get your money's worth out of terraforming mars, so I'm not sure that was like such a terrible one.

Fortunately there is zero chance of that happening.

Not interested in Legion. I like Dudes On a Grid games and IA's skirmish mode is a good one.

When you talked about playing Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective in the what games have you been playing thread, I just assumed you were playing your copy with your wife. Great purchase to play with wife, relatives or couples. It's my go to game when we have 3 generations together or my dad, step-mother and daughters together. We can sit on the front pouch with some drinks and snacks and slow play as we work together to solve a Sherlock Holmes mystery.

I also pre-ordered John Company, since I'm a sucker for a modern (cynical) treatment of the East India Company. Even if it doesn't work for me, I'm sure I can ride the wave of Sierra Madre print runs and get rid of it for little worry (or even a pick up a few bucks).
