Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× Talk abut Movies & TV here. Just tell us what you have been watching. Have hyper-academic discussions on visual semiotics. Whatever, it's all good.

When did you first notice that Star Wars sucks?

...and since physical sets require some forethought and planning, they will tend to prevent the writer-director from filming the first draft of a scene he wrote just that morning.

I remember when TPM first came out, how vocal Ewan MacGregor was about how awful an experience working on the film was, specifically mentioning how miserable it was to try to act in front of a green screen. That itself was unusual; most actors never let out negative comments about films in current release unless they really hate it.

OK, I'm throwing down the gauntlet now, beyotches.

What other film, in the HISTORY OF FILM, has spawned a legion of amateur filmmakers to send in millions of single scenes to create a fan-made remake of Star Wars as totally awesome as this:

Warning - thread derailment.

Somebody mentioned LotR as the new perfect trilogy (or something - I'm too lazy to actually check for the correct quote even though it would not have taken much more time than writing this sentence did). For me those movies get worse every time I view them.

First of all they're all filled to the brim with stupid music that tells you what to feel in every single scene. Secondly a lot of the lines are just that: lines. They're not part of a dialogue, but just a line someone says at a time that supposedly seem convinient. For instance: while preparing for the assault in Helm's Deep Theoden walks toward the gate or something. And while walking his only line is: prepare all able men. That's it. Why the fuck didn't he say that at the war council they probably just left instead of on his way down some steps.

Sorry, derailment done.

One could ask why he felt obligated to say that. Was the second shift planning to take the night off?

but isn't Theoden basically ordering civilians (including boys and old men) to get involved in the defence of Helm's Deep. i think that's why he says it. he decides that his contingent isn't going to be enough and that they're going to need more meat for the grinder.

then those elves show up and make a nice differance. Then I'm wondering when Return of the King is going to come out because I'm finding this movie really, really long at this point

It's not the meaning of the line that's wrong, Barney. The thing is that they way it's inserted into the scene is utterly artificial and makes it more of a line than actual dialogue. The movies are full of shit like that and it's painful to watch.

ah yes, lazy screenwriting. The prequels are brutal for that especially, I find.
