Upcoming Movies - Summer 2012 and beyond

Did anyone hear of "Knights of Badassdom" ?
I think it has the potential to be anything between a classic and total garbage.

The Rock had his shot at the fantasy genre with The Scorpion King and blew it. At least Kelly Hu was in it.

Vin Diesel would be better. They're practically the same actor. The Rock is more funny, but Fire and Ice has nothing funny about it (I wonder if Roy Thomas has a sense a humore after a career of literal comic-book adaptations). But Vin has the better voice for the role.

Someone mentioned Let the Bullets Fly earlier. I have a bootleg DVD from Dalian in my posession. I was planning on watching it to practice my ear for Mandarin, but I'm a little China-ed out right now. It was the biggest money-making domestic movie of all time in mainland China, but a Chinese friend told me that it's only because Chinese movies suck. I guess we always want what we can't have. Only a certain number of foreign movies are allowed to be played in Chinese theaters every year (though they are thoroughly censored versions), and so the general population is always more interested in the type of movies we're all sick of.

Same with food, probably. I only eat Chinese food once in a while, so it's a treat when I do have it. Over in China, Chinese food is just food, so having a pizza or a burger would be a more memorable experience.

Good point about the voice, but audio can be augmented. Darkwolf's got a strong jawline, and well, Vin Diesel's is a weak 7. Side by side, The Rock's jaw and pie-hole better fits the look.

God Bless America reminds me of an old favorite: Heathers. Only much more extreme. I'm sure that I will laugh hard in the theater, and then feel very creeped out after it inspires a real-world killing spree later this year.

EDIT: weird coincidence... one of the Heathers died in 2001 of a brain tumor. She was just 32.
