until yesterday I thought Bull Nakano's avatar was, like, some kind of Aztec dude and now I feel super dumb

I thought the exact same thing until I randomly clicked on it one day.

I can't count how many times I've glanced at an avatar and my mind forms this image of my own creation...Only to really look at it later and realize just how wrong I was. Malloc's avatar I glanced at and saw an Albino Water Buffalo grazing in a field, until one day I looked closer and realized it was a robot with a solar glare.

Being the sheltered child that I was, I assume that every reference/avatar I don't recognize is referring to some goofy bit of 1970s/1980s kitsch that is now too obscure for me to look up, but not obscure enough that everyone else won't understand it.

It's not an Aztec? My whole F:AT experience has been thrown into confusion.

What's the matter with everyone? You're supposed to be making confessions (true ones!). Here are five quick ones off the top of my head:

I thought that Mike Barnes' previous avatar was him.

I was very intimidated by this site in the first couple weeks I was here. Some of my friends who I've tried to bring here have described that feeling as, "it feels like going to a party where I don't know anyone"

I think that uba doesn't like me :(

I've tried 'using' the film that samoko's avatar is from and was unsuccessful

When one of Repo's 5-second reviews squashes one of mine off the front page, my blood pressure rises. I don't know why that is. I like his articles.

I've seen actual pictures of Barnes, and my brain rejects them for not looking enough like Mark E. Smith.

F:AT Confessions?

Well lets see...

I hate Arkham Horror. Just do. I find it dull as dishwater. The C'thulu theme does absolutely zero for me.

When one of Barney's reviews squashed one of mine off the front page, my blood pressure rises. I do know why that is. It's because I'm an ego maniac.

I thought "Gary Sax" was Gary Sax's real name. It isn't.

I still think Von Tush's avatar is Mr. Roboto.

There is no "Luce, American Hero" counter in Combat Commander...my avatar is just a flawless photoshop.

Until I was maybe 16 or so, I thought "prohibited" meant "allowed."

It led to some occasional comedy, believe me.

I hope you are joking. Your posts always put a smile on my face.

I was very intimidated by this site in the first couple weeks I was here. Some of my friends who I've tried to bring here have described that feeling as, "it feels like going to a party where I don't know anyone"

It does make me sad when you and other people bury good stuff in the "What ... have you been..." threads. I think these threads squash the start of new threads. I think the combination of few new single topic threads and these monster multi topic threads has made Trash Talk increasingly insular, to the point that the site is dying a slow death. New people really do feel like they are at a party where they don't know anyone, and there are no conversations going where they feel like they can just jump in and get to know anyone. But I'm not going to fight that fight again. The last time I tried I got the crap beat out of me by everyone.

When one of Repo's 5-second reviews squashes one of mine off the front page, my blood pressure rises. I don't know why that is. I like his articles.

I will try to be more aware of that in the future.

Nono, it's just a silly confession. Obviously new articles should squash old ones and it's very much Repo's column to begin with.

The trash talk thing is just a balance. RIght now, it totally feels like walking into a pub or cafe, sitting down with friends and just chatting. I LOVE that. But once in a while some of us end up chatting something up to a level where it should be an article or blog entry to really flush out the topic in the comments section of that article/blog post. That's hard to decide when to move it there, or as you suggest, a new topic at the very least. Not easy.

I don't really buy or play board games that much any more. I was invited to play the WEG version of Star Wars RPGs and thought it was kind of silly, but my son liked it. I think most graphic novels are weak. I see myself becoming an angry old man, like a seed germinating, and can't stop it. I binge watch The Good Wife. I miss Will. I moonwalked out of class when I was done teaching today. I don't click "thank you" on posts as often as I should because it feels like it takes forever for the page to refresh, so I just say thank you in my heart.

Give me your permission to split more involved discussions off into their own thread when I see them, or shoot me a PM when something evolves to that level and I'll split it off in to it's own topic.
