Oh, and some jackass saying he doesn't understand why people feel "entitled" to see a rulebook "for free". Idiot.

I know I was not brought upon this world to get it, but I don't get this at all...
I mean, if I like the game Street Fighter II...then I'll go play SFII. I don't think SFII the deckbuilder is really going to serve the same thing.
So, for fans of Dark Souls...why not just go play Dark Souls? What will this boardgame bring to the Dark Souls experience? Is it even the same as the videogame or just like any other umpteenth number dungeon crawls?
Why is this so sought after?

Here's the thing about it. Dark Souls has a very specific, very unique fantasy setting. It has this very surrealist angle and style, very reminiscent of the Polish artist Zdzislaw Beksinski and Swiss artist Arnold Bocklin. With just a slight touch of Frazetta and Jack Vance-style monsters in it. And the designers have repeatedly mentioned Fighting Fantasy as a key influence. So the setting is very unique even among other fantasy games. And the gameplay has this Groundhog Day/Edge of Tomorrow like loop that is unlike anything else in games. So if they are really serious about doing this- and they'd better be in a Kickstarter that is going to cross $2 million this weekend- then hopefully those things will translate to a tabletop game.
It could be a disaster. If it is, I'll cash out the pledge if it starts looking bad.
I'm really kind of hoping that it turns out something like Doomrock, where the "exploration" part is more abstracted than the boss encounters, which are more detailed.

I will admit that once the billion stretch goals are unlocked the value proposition looks way, way better... and it's one of those things you could easily resell if you didn't want it.

I'm annoyed at how the comments asking for rules and other details are routinely ignored. It's all about 'hey let's hit that next stretch!'
