Doubts About Age of Conan

I'm inclined to agree with Matt on this one. I don't have War of the Ring and when I read about AoC being a simpler, shorter, multiplayer version of WoTR, I decided to get AoC instead. I am also only expecting a generic fantasy battle type game and won't be overly disappointed if the theme is supported primarily by the Conan flavour rather than the mechanics. That's a little blasphemic around these parts I know, but I'm really just a whore for attractive fantasy battle games.

I'm so excited about this game, I creamed my hamburger.

I'm on the fence with this one too.
I'm not as much of a fan of WOTR as everyone else is. It's just too fucking fidely.
Marvel Heroes was good but could have been better.
Micro Mutants kicks ass though.

I was interested until I found out its basically an area control game with some
Quest mechanic tacked on.I was looking for a more adventure oriented game as I didn't
want to conquor Hyoria just muck around in Howards rich bacground.

Ironically, Kull the movie was actually originally written as a Conan movie, whereas the Conan movie was more based on the Kull stories than the Conan stories.

I confess I don't know much about WoTR having never played it. I guess I have interpreted from preliminary reviews that AoC is an improved revision of WoTR with a new fantasy theme. But that remains to be seen.

I'll be interested to see if - 12 months after release - the general consensus is that AoC has superceded WoTR. If this is the case, WoTR will drop off my wishlist.

And if you want to revoke my F:AT card, you gonna have to step into the Thunderdome and take it from my cold dead hands.

Conan is in Stores. I'm picking up my copy on Wednesday.
