No, the designers are not more important. To be honest the designers are some of the most boring people on the planet. Slide Rule junkies who sometimes get lucky by having the right elements in place to make a somewhat entertaining game. Most of them have no clue about entertainment, which is what games are, pure entertainment NOT math puzzles which most of them turn out to be.

I don't care if designers are boring. I don't have to talk to them. Most musicians are self centered ignoramuses, but I like the music of some of them. Thankfully, many of them don't care about the entertainment, but make something they think is interesting/of value. They create something that I enjoy. I don't care whatever method they follow. I'm interested in the product. And that's something that you, Barnes, Vasel and no critic can ever deliver.

The games are secondary as well because those of us love games are sometimes forced to play an imperfect product simply because there is no other choice. When that happens the charismatic gamer and the people in his group must breath life into the game and make the playing worthwhile!

A very Games 2.0 approach to games that I appreciate. I'm surprised you are not more vocal about your love for games that require the input from the players, like story telling and role playing. Tell me more.

But the operative word is sometimes. In other cases (and those are the relevant ones) the enjoyment is derived from the game play. The atmosphere, the way in which the combination of theme and mechanics creates an experience that grips you, those are the great games.

That doesn't mean there aren't any shitty games out there, but it does mean that talking about Schloesser is a waste of time, and talking about War of the Ring, Battlestar Galactica, Civilization is not

I think the fact that I'm not even sure you even "play" games makes you somewhat irrelevant in my book.

I don't know what makes you say that Chapel. I know I have played more games in my lifetime than you have! But I think I am older than you so that should be the case.

But anyway, I find it interesting that you enjoy roleplaying games. I would love to DM a game with you as a player Chapel. I am sure you would enjoy it. Do you prefer to DM or be a player.

I have been wanting to get up a game of Star Wars by West End games or 1st edition Gamma World. If you are interested let me know. perhaps we could do it by e-mail or a forum here so others could enjoy.

See that's the kind of talk I'd rather hear out of your choppers. But you hardly ever talk about "playing" games. You want to be relevant in my book, show me how much of a "gamer" you are.

Of course playing more game than I have, well danielsan, that will remain to be seen.

Doesn t any get that the mad gamer aka steve weeks does not give a rats ass about being relevant. He is laughing at Derk and Chapel for them even wasting breath on the subject. He has been laughing at everyone including himself since the war on euros was declared. Does anyone give two shits about a board game web site?

Total props to my brother for his Derk impersonation I was laughing my ass off. This was a dead on impression I am assuming that led to the mighty Derk saying he was irrelevant. I would not piss on BGG or anyone associated with it if they were on fire.

This is coming from a guy who could not cut it in the real world who moved to New York to find more non plastic women and came home tail tucked between his legs wearing a chicken hat to run a web site about board games. Fuck em if they cant take a joke is what I say but fucking Schlosser is still FUCKING KING OF THE WORLD

Personally, I think Octavian is a funny man. Although, thanks to Weeks I did get a warning for something I said way back in 2007 on BGG.

Don't worry Weeks, so did Levy. So your justice has been served.

Meanwhile:

What do you think of the multiple scheme defense the Cardinals will probably use against the Eagles? The Cardinals play a base 3-4 but shift into a 4-3 alignment as well... and often.

And how do you defend Westbrook? Do you play 8 in the box and place the Mike linebacker in spy coverage on him... especially if he rolls off his blocking assignments into the flat? Or do you use an OLB? How much pressure should we put on McNabb?

And just HOW do the Cardinal prepare and attack Jim Johnson blitz schemes, especially if Brown and Asante Samuel hold up when in man to man press coverage?

These are the truly RELEVANT questions people! I demand that you answer them Weeks!

Hey, I laugh at my own farts, I laugh at other peoples farts. They're fuckin' funny. But wouldn't Fark.com be a better venue to laugh at farting chumps then a game site? It's great to be the class clown, but it works better when you're actually enrolled in class. Even his gaming comedy isn't relevant or funny.

Barnes is the fart from BGG let out to clear the air and allowed to sound off here at his own site, so this is really so far beyond pots and kettles as to be stupid beyond words. Jesus H. Christ on a bicycle. ;)

Or you could use the babysitter over and over again... ;) :) :cheer:   :woohoo:

Justice served? I think not. Suspend Levy!

Now listen Ryan, I am not in the habit of responding to someone who DEMANDS that I answer. But I will do it this one time. Just to satisfy you. Now to your questions:

What do you think of the multiple scheme defense the Cardinals will probably use against the Eagles? The Cardinals play a base 3-4 but shift into a 4-3 alignment as well... and often.

All teams have multiple scheme defenses. What the 3-4 gives a team is a means to confuse the offense of which outside linebacker will be acting as a defensive end. Yet, the scheme is usually the same of having 7 men in the box. Usually there are four down line men on passing situations for the nickel and dime defenses. With that said, The Cardinals have to deal with the balance of the Eagle offense. In essence, the short passes to Westbrook and the other running backs are running plays. Therefore, run blitzing with the strong safety should prove to be advantageous. Although the Cardinals would be exposed to tight end releases. The plan must be, contain the run and blitz on third and long situations.

And how do you defend Westbrook? Do you play 8 in the box and place the Mike linebacker in spy coverage on him... especially if he rolls off his blocking assignments into the flat? Or do you use an OLB? How much pressure should we put on McNabb?

You cannot cover Westbrook with a line backer. You have to shoot the corner or safety when they read screen pass. I have no faith in Eagle receivers; therefore, the Cardinals could play a lot of two deep safeties and get away with it. The most important thing is to tackle Westbrook for little gain. You cannot let him run in the open. If the Cardinals play 8 in the box, bring in another safety instead on a linebacker. In other words, run more of a 4-2 with a monster safety.

How much pressure should we put on McNabb?

You cannot let McNabb sit back and pick you apart. You have to force him to stay in the pocket and then collapse the pocket around him. So far in the playoffs, he has run outside the tackle to buy time, and burn the opposing defenses with ease. Make McNabb go through his progressions. Make him throw to someone other than Westbrook.

And just HOW does the Cardinal prepare and attack Jim Johnson blitz schemes, especially if Brown and Asante Samuel hold up when in man to man press coverage?

Asante Samuel is over rated. He just happens to be out of place when an opposing quarterback overthrows a receiver. If he is where he should be, the pass goes for an incompletion, not an interception. However, he is one of the best corners for run defense. The running game for the Cardinals is what has made them successful in the playoffs. The running game is the cure for a blitz-fluenza. If the line seals the linebackers and the running back gain five and six yards, those linebackers have to stay at home.

Now run back to Boardgamenews and wipe your nose Ryan.
