Atlanta Gamefest Jan 9th-11th

Just made hotel arrangements and I'll be at Atlanta Gamefest in Atlanta on January 9th and 10th. My brother and I will get there around 6pm Friday and get settled in before coming to the convention to game. Then it will be all day Saturday, leaving late Saturday evening.

I'd like to arrange for some games to play...I'm open for most stuff but I'd like to try Android, Cosmic Encounter, Galaxy Trucker, Betrayal At House on the Hill, Ghost Stories, and Railroad Tycoon (w or w/o Rails of Europe.) Proven favorites like Twilight Imperium, Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica and others are always welcome. Since it will be just a day and some change for us, I'm looking to pack as much gaming in that time as possible.

I'd also like to arrange a 'dinner trip' for that Saturday night, doesn't matter where. Unless Steve Avery recommends this "quiet little Vietnamese place that's right next to the pet store."

Anyone who will be in attendance post here, and GM me with your cell phone # and I'll trade you mine. Don't know how many F:ATties will be in attendance but it would be cool to game with any and all who will be in attendance.

Wish I could go... I understand BGG legend Michael Barnes will be there...

Yes, and once you have played with BGG Legend Michael Barnes, gaming will never be the same I hear.

I've heard that Michael Barnes doesn't usually frequent places where other board gamers are so I doubt he'll be there. I heard him say that events like the Atlanta Gamefest "smell like an Arby's". I've also heard him mention that between the wandering middle-aged losers whose sole purpose seems to be to provide condescending commentary on what games everyone is playing and the rampant man-childism, these events offer little to an esteemed, "legendary" master of gaming as himself.

See you saturday Ken.

I'm pretty sure Michael Barnes is the kind of person who only has to read a vague summary of the basic rules to rate a game a 7. He will also stand over your shoulder and tell you why the game isn't really that good.

See you guys on Saturday as well.

Could be worse--could be like Steve Avery who only has to read a vague summary of the basic rules and then will try to teach them to you.

Jeff--send your cell # to me or we'll just figure out how to hook up when we get there. Barnes is down for Saturday, will you be there Friday night?

Oh come on, that chariot race game turned into an experience when Avery taught it. Though I hate to encourage him that way. It may happen again...

Ohh, and I forgot to mention it. Currently I am planning on being there all three days. It will depend on schedules and what happens (i.e. working Friday night and if I have to stay late).

I'm in the process of getting a restraining order filed against Steve Avery just to keep him from being able to attend. We can't let anything like that CIRCUS IMPERIUM game happen again.

My wife and I will be there most of Saturday, and (maybe?) Friday evening.

SWEET.

We need like name badges or something so we can all quickly find each other on Friday and Saturday. Maybe gang colors. I suggest a violent shade of plaid.

Maybe if you guys all refrain from wearing shirts you'll recognize each other.
