Yeah I’m thinking, « don’t these guys swear to do no harm? » and then he uses a razor blade and I’m also thinking it’s a nickname. I don’t even know why they need to bring in a guy to do that anyway.

Not a theater viewing, but I wanted to mention it anyway-- I had a Dude Double Feature yesterday.
Rio Bravo - Such a great, great movie. It's long, but it never drags. You just feel like you're spending a week with these characters. And I'd forgotten how strong the opening is. I didn't time it, but it felt like about 5 minutes without any dialog, and yet you get a clear definition of three of the main characters. One of the best Westerns ever made.

The Big Lebowski - We've already talked about this movie this year, so I won't say too much. I just adore this one. It still makes me laugh. There are so many subtle things going on with The Dude that are easy to ignore, like his habit of repeating other people's dialog from previous scenes. So, so good. Probably this should be on my Top 5 in place of one of the others.

Saw Singles again. I love that movie...especially seeing a very young, very vibrant Chris Cornell belting out Birth Ritual.

Cameron Crowe is such a bad ass.

Does Redbox count as 'theater' or 'tv'? Anyway, I watched Logan Lucky over the Christmas holiday. Coming from WV, I know that they got the geography (and geology) all kinds of wrong from start to finish. The accents were also a little over the top, but that might be what someone from southern WV sounds like to someone from southern CA. All that aside, I thought it was a good Soderbergh heist film.

A lot of it they got wrong because a lot of the exteriors were shot at my sister’s ranch in Paulding County, GA. You probably saw like my whole family in it including some of our horses. I didn’t go for the shoot days and missed my chance to act alongside Craig and Driver.

Missed your chance to show off your 'No Regerts' tattoo.

Last night I managed to catch a bit of IRON MAN playing late at night and I can't believe how night & day it is from AGE OF ULTRON which I watched half of the night before for the first time. In IRON MAN, we have great villians, characters and everything has momentum and is well crafted (i know that Origin movies are more fun in general), but I finally got around to trying to watch AGE OF ULTRON which got really great reviews and I couldn't believe how bad a decision it was to cast James Spader as a voice actor for Ultron. James Spader has a super human voice and is not a voice actor by any stretch. I just couldn't believe Ultron to be anything other than James Spader in a voice studio. Plus the movie is all over the place and a total mess.

I will admit to one brilliant James Spader moment which was out of character but SO hilarious, it's when Hulk manages to jump into a shuttle being piloted by Ultron and it all happens off-camera, you just hear James Spader go, "oh for God's sake!" before being forcibly ejected from his aircraft. Too funny.

But yeah, i much prefer the low-key Marvel movies to these new mega extravaganza blitzkriegs.

I wonder if Star Wars will be similar....

Funny story about Logan Lucky. My mom was there on the first day, she’s in some of the fair scenes. She sends me a text “OMG, did you know that Adam Driver is handicap”. I respond ???. She sends back this picture of Driver coming out of a trailer with a prosthetic arm. She also posted the picture to Facebook- “I just found out that Adam Driver just has one arm, does anyone know what happened?” She had not seen the script or anything so she didn’t know about the character. I text back “mom, I’m pretty sure that is an effect for the movie.”

“Oh.”

I will say, that while the accents might be over the top for the majority of people in that area, I've definitely lived/worked with people who would fit right in accent wise. There's just something special about a bunch of Southwest and West Virginians trying to tell someone "Stop or I'll Shoot" in Farsi.

That's a GREAT movie! I saw it when it came out! Over the top crazy skiing scenes, naked girls in a Jacuzzi, this was pretty hot stuff back in 1984.

Back then you didn't have hi-def big screens in your house, and no Internet, so if you wanted to see something in high quality you had to go to a movie to see it. You didn't have much choice of shows either. Seeing the kick-ass skiing footage that we take for granted today was worth the trip. The storyline was just there to string together the ski scenes, the equivalent of a porn film with no option to fast-forward. VCRs were out but all you could rent was films, so if you wanted to see big-ass skiing this was your ticket. Better Off Dead came out the following year with more ski scenes.

The ladies in the Jacuzzi -- icing on the cake. That was just to close the deal with non-skiers.

This was more or less a hedonist trip to the theater at the time. I knew people that went three and four times because they were ski bums.

That explains it. Not a skiing fan, so once you ignore those scenes you only have a mediocre tit flick.

It's been decades since I've seen it, but I believe the tits in that film were not mediocre.
