Here's the grand irony of the holiday sale:
-Games with supposed played out themes: Lovecraft, Star Wars, Tolkien, Terronith
-Games that show up in the holiday (i.e. slow selling games): Not those themes

So in other words, I think they'll be able to go back to the SW well many, many more times. Not all are going to be the subscription purchases, but they'll go back. To be honest though, I'm not sure how well the SW:LCG is doing.

The Star Wars LCG actually was one of the more interesting ones I thought. Liked it the few times I played it.

Wut? Most are 8.95.

I think the Descent lieutenant model was a success so they use it on SWIA.

I was going off list price on them on Amazon. Which was a rookie mistake.

And how's that any different than the 14.99 X-Wing ships? Oh right, those are painted. Makes all the difference.

Maybe it's just me but . . . I'm seeing a fair chunk of difference here. The little plastic guys look like the ones you get for five tickets each at the Skee-Ball in Rehoboth Beach.

Well, never know what Skee-Ball or Rehoboth Beach are, but having handled (and painted) Descent miniatures, I think they're very good quality minis with lots of pretty sharp details.

Yeah, fair enough. That's stuff that just means nothing to me, so I can see why we disagree. The tank with legs thing looks nice, but I'll bet that's not the $14.95 jobbie. The Han Solo figure looks awfully simple to me.

Can't imagine why Skee Ball hasn't penetrated into southeast Asia. Truly a classic.

I'm still sitting on a huge collection of wotc Star Wars minis. Would they be compatible with this game?

Does it offer something beyond what the old skirmish game offered? Because my game club is way played out on that, and it seems we had way more options and maps. We played extensively including leagues with rpg type advances . A weekly featured scenario etc etc.

Seems you have all your bases covered with skirmish & the rpg advances. So the question which mechanism you like better.

On figure compatibility, if it's the same as Descent, then figure will be a touch smaller than the "standard" 28mm. Also, you'll still need the cards.

I wish monster threads like this that sprout when I'm asleep had a button that said, "Send to Instapaper" so I could rip through them on the way to work in the morning.

You're not missing much, just plenty of debate over how "fair" prices for tiny plastic toys and cards are.

The thread started 2 months ago when IA was announced, and was just recently dusted off with some news about miniatures add-on packs.

Don't know if it was mentioned here, but this is now expected to release this quarter. Doesn't look like the Ally/Villain packs will make it in time for Christmas though.
