FFG announces - Imperial Assault
It'll give me some good holiday reading/watching though so that's nice.

Sagrilarus wrote: Yeah, fair enough. That's stuff that just means nothing to me, so I can see why we disagree. The tank with legs thing looks nice, but I'll bet that's not the $14.95 jobbie. The Han Solo figure looks awfully simple to me.
S.
The AT-ST commander will retail at $20. Individuals (Han, Chewie, IG-88) 10 each, squads between 13-15 depending on number of figures.
Also you don't need more than one each of the named characters. X-Wing encourages you to buy multiples of the same starfighter.

Looks pretty good. And the Heroes/Villains are represented by cardboard counters, so just like the Lieutenant packs for Descent.

Or you could go this route...

In IA you always play the same start mission, then you receive new mission cards depending on what happens. Some missions are forced and must be played, others may be side missions that you have the opportunity to go on (or not). The players choosing from the cards they have is neat.
Myth is a card system but Quest cards are added to the deck and then drawn randomly as you play, as opposed to choosing which specific Quest to encounter. Some quests unlock new quests (chains) which have an ongoing story - you shuffle the new quest into the deck and may run into it later on in the middle of a session.
So yeah, they have some similar ideas but FFG's version is of course much more streamlined and less fragile. Looking forward to it.

I swore I would never ever buy another game with an overlord system but I will get this IF it sounds balanced. That means the overlord actually has to use some mental effort to win.

Maybe FFG will do something with IA like they did with D2 (tacked on co-op). I haven't really been following that so I don't know much about it.

Seconded.
Galaxy Defenders is fucking excellent.

Well, if I can still skirmish then who cares.

More like player experience also depends on them being oblivious of the missions' surprises. Just like I'm enjoying Star Craft & Call of Duty for their single player campaigns, I'm ambivalent toward IA's skirmish.
