So, just thought I would throw out something to this thread; my wife and I played this card game a few months ago that someone picked up at Essen or something and there was some bidding and somethig about turn order going one way and then switching back for the last part of each bidding round. There were colorful comodities, though they were only "dressing" on the cards. 45 minutes. Dripping with 7. Probably less than that, actually. Byzanz it was called. I can understand why some people need PDAs or little notebooks to record what games they played because I didn't even remember playing it when I got home that night, but I saw it somewhere and remembered later.

Probably perfectly fits the definition of "filler", which is: a game that isn't really worth your time, but it's short enough that you can play it while waiting for Eugene to get here, or while Ted goes to the bathroom, and it's inane enough that no one should mind stopping the game when he gets back so they can play a game they actually want to, but they probably will play it to the end anyway, because they know that they probably won't play it again and they don't want to give it an unfair 7. Afterwards, they say it was a "great little filler" and give it a 7.

What's up with Ad Astra? Is it going to be another Kingsburg?? The trading aspect reminds me a little of Settlers.

Ad Astra caught my interest over the past week. The more I read about it though, it looks to be awfully derivative. It is looking more and more to me that it will be a dumbed down Race for the Galaxy: The Boardgame. Yuck..I hope I'm wrong

I just want to make sure that everybody knows that we are in the new age of Euros. Hopefully, noone else will get caught with their trousers down looking like they don't know their arse from their elbow.

What do you mean the new age of euros?

I think he means that the preferred euro color palette has moved from dark browns to light browns.
