Most Embarassing Eurogame You Own

New England

I believe it was part of some deal on fairplaygames a number of years back and so I think I paid about $10 for it. Boring. After playing it once I'm surprised the colonists ever survived the total boredom that was there life. At least as the game presents itself.

None, really. If any game — AT, Euro, wargame, whatever — in my collection ever reaches the "embarrassing" stage, it goes into the eBay queue and out the door.

Now, that being said ... past embarrassments have included Kahuna and LOTR: The Search.

CAT IN THE SACK?! Wtf! I can't believe I'm playing OGRE with you! :-P

It was one of those rare moments where my FLGS was having a storewide sale, I wanted RA or Modern Art but they didn't have them so I thought "Well, It's an auction game, it can't that bad", fuck was I wrong.

Even Eurogamers won't touch their beloved Friedemann Friese's piece of crap.

Dukester pointed out one of the things I was going to say, but there should be three categories in this, Most Embarrassing:
- that you have offloaded (slight reprieve if you managed to sell it for more than it cost you).
- That you are trying to get rid of.

and, the real cruncher ...
- that you either still play and/or are keeping.

If anyone who has already posted has an extra one or two to add then do a quick edit if it will amuse us.

I still have to check my list (yes - there are that many) but I do still have Time Pirates (can't bloody sell or trade the bugger!).

UPDATE:

Offloaded, Thank God - St Petersburg
Can't Give Away - Time Pirates, Runner-Up Downtown (+ numerous card games)
Not On Trade List Yet - Puerto Rico

My vote for worst so far is New England - that was a fucking terrible game that I refused to play ever again and that was when I was with my euro group.
Also hated Princes of Florence for being so boring and dry, and Reef Encounter.

Wow. I must be the king of Euroshame around here. I don't even know what to pick. I mean, I own some *really* shit games, like TORRES, for example. But I've plumbed much, much greater depths than that. Owning a craptacular SdJ winner like TORRES is nothing compared to owning DAWN UNDER -- and liking it enough to rate it a 10 on the web somewhere. And I don't have kids.

When I started playing games again some years ago it was through AT games such as TWILIGHT IMPERIUM 2. ed. and one of the first games I bought as an adult was RISK 2210. But looking for a new game on TOS I found ST. PETERSBURG which was rated quite high. I bought it, played it, hated it, and finally thought of selling it some months back. It was about that time I stopped looking at TOS's ratings and started reading more reviews - and also more reviews NOT written by Tom Vasel who apparantly likes everything.

I also have an four or five year old, unopened copy of REEF ENCOUNTER that I bought at the same time as NEXUS OPS which has been played a lot. I actually still want to try REEF ENCOUNTER, but for some reason there's always some other game I need to try first.

Does everybody here but me own REEF ENCOUNTER? Is it something about the fish that you guys like?

Probably Ticket To Ride, but I have more embarrassing non-Euros, for example...

It was a gift!!

Although, the loss of body parts is pretty funny, and gave me ideas for my zombie game.

Magna Grecia maybe? Although that's more of an abstract than a euro. I still don't mind playing it, but as time goes on, it seems that the only euros I own that I really want to play are Power Grid, Railroad Tycoon and Tigris and Euphrates. The rest sit undisturbed in the cupboard, waiting for...who knows? I might get requests from friends, but they're really at the bottom of the queue in my mind.

Not here - I stand firm .... fish belong on the end of a line or cooked in batter with my chips.

Caylus, Louis XIV, Amun-Re, it's hard to choose.

Caylus I played twice and that's pretty much when I stopped snapping up the latest Euros.

Louis the XIV I've only struggled through twice as well, painfull.

Amun-Re I've never played, not even sure why I bought it.

I own it and the expansion. I bought it because it was something different from Richard Breese. I also have and like Torres. Filou I have yet to play. I wouldn't call any of those embarrassing, frankly if a game made me feel that way then I wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

And where's the companion 'embarrassed by an Ameritrash game' thread, he said just to be a heretic?
