Got POKEMON PLATINUM...oh, mercy. It is HUGELY addictive, and I don't really know why. I'm only about five hours into it and I'll be damned if I'm not out to "catch 'em all". It's surprising how deep it is, even at an early stage. It's really kind of like an RPG where you have a potential field of 500 or so magic users and part of the game is grooming them to be awesome and then having a core team that you rotate in and out of for maximum effect. I didn't realize how RPG it all was, it's very much like an old-school SNES game. I think it's pretty great.

Oh yeah, Pokemon is totally an RPG. I need to pick up Platinum.

Advance Wars very much reminds me of the old Empire games, but with scenarios. I actually used to play PBM (sending a 3.5 AMIGA disk back and forth :D )

I don't have much to add lately, but I am super stoked on this thread. My productivity however, not so much.

Yes, the DS is the official console of F:AT. If you disagree- die.

I really think that it's one of the best game systems I've ever played, period. I don't get this whole onus that it has that it's a "kiddie" or "mom" system. I mean, I can play FFTA2, FIRE EMBLEM, ADVANCE WARS, and a whole host of great RPGs, strategy titles, and hardcore old school games like CONTRA 4 on it. It totally satisfies my video game hungers on every level, and the format and medium are perfect for my lifestyle and gaming habits. Nobody's making you play NINTENDOGS, BABIEZ, COOKING MAMA, et. al. There's so many great games for the system ranging from old-school stuff to really quirky, off-the-wall stuff. A total winner on every level.

I do hope DSiware gets up to speed soon...this week's update was terrible.

It's hilarious- HEY WHERE'S MY FISH turned up on Wiiware...and it's being widely regarded as shovelware! Ha ha ha! Cue the fucking board game nerds "well, actually, it's a very popular board game in Germany blah blah blah"

You totally should.

That's got to be second on the "Dumbest Things Patty McSullivan Ever Did" list. #1: going home with "Sammy", the nice 6'2" lady with the deep voice and hairy legs.

I have yet to see a single game on PSP that made wish I had it and not a DS.

I'm not saying I would switch for them, but I'd like any/all of these to be available for me to play:
  • GOD OF WAR: CHAINS OF OLYMPUS
  • LUMINES
  • WIPEOUT PURE
  • PATAPON
  • JEANNE d'ARC
  • HOT SHOTS GOLF: OPEN TEE
  • X-MEN LEGENDS II
  • LOCOROCO
  • EVERY EXTEND EXTRA
  • NBA STREET SHOWDOWN
  • ECHOCHROME
  • RATCHET & CLANK: SIZE MATTERS

Ken, Sammy had breastesses! How was I supposed to know?

God of War is a total blast and I like Ratchet & Clank so far. I'm gonna get Lumines cuz I hear it's great but if I compare the best games for PSP to DS, I much prefer the latter.

One thing I like about the PSP (not sure if DS has this) is that they have the Playstation Network which is just like XboxLiveMarketplace so I can download free demos and trailers and stuff. I love that.

PSP thankfully has a couple of good GTA games too but none are supposed to be as good as Chinatown Wars. MAN. Not being able to play Advance Wars sucks too. At least PSP has Pirates! (I LOVE that game)

KEN! It's KILLING me not posting in that BSG game forum. I wanna go in there and talk about my favourite interactive Agricola card or something.

That JEANNE D'ARC might be a good AW subtitute for you, Patrick. It looks pretty cool.

The FFT game on PSP is a remake of the original, that's worth having.

LUMINES is a good puzzle game, I had a cell version of it and it was really fun.

PATAPON looks promising, and that GoW game is supposed to be awesome.

So all's not lost...there's plenty of good gaming there.

But no CANVAS CURSE. And no FFIV. Or GTA: CW. Or NEW SUPER MARIO BROS.

I thought Jeanne D'arc was another twitchy button masher like God of War?

Man, i hope the two GTA titles can at least come close to Chinatown Rars.

I just downloaded the free demo to Patapon 2. I can't wait.

And you reminded me of a fun quotable. See if you can name the TV show:

"I'm not actually JOHN DARK, but JOAN OF ARC!"

Having seen nothing in the way of a preview/review for it I am cautiously optimistic, but supposedly there is a DS port of the utterly awesome PC game Jagged Alliance dropping for the DS tomorrow.

If done right, it will be yet another awesome TBS for the platform.

From what I understand, it's a port of the first JA game- slight disappointment, since JA2 is one of the best PC games _ever_. But I'm probably going to pick this up sight unseen anyway because it's the perfect way to play the game. Hope it doesn't suck!

Nah, it's all good, dawg. Each system has its strengths ... although I must admit that I've just playing the hell out of the DS lately. The PSP? Not so much.
