Every year Goodman Games does a special holiday themed adventure module for Dungeon Crawl Classics. This year it includes scratch-off character sheets. It's a Level 4 adventure and your characters have lost their memories and sense of who they are so you scratch off parts of your characters sheets throughout the adventure. Cool idea. www.kickstarter.com/projects/1409961192/...odule?ref=nav_search

K:DM 1.5 - $200 for the core. That's... surprising, in a good way. Trigger pulled.

I couldn't really justify the extra cost for the Gambler's Box.

That gambler's box certainly is ...... vague.

Edit: <20 minutes to sell out 1000 early birds at the Gold Lantern level.

I like the first unlock, and there's mention of a K:DM "Advanced" rulebook in the box. I sucked it up and switched for now. I may drop it and eat the $50 price hike for the core later, or jump on another "round" of deals if they structure it the same way they did in the previous campaign.

I also got in the early bird for the Gambler's + Core pledge. From the Kickstarter video it seems like most of the good stretch goals will go in the Gambler's box. Also, the campaign is 43 days long so plenty of time for it to become the highest grossing kickstarter board game (not card game).

I wish I could talk myself into this game. This may be the first Black Friday I don't buy anything, out of boredom more than ideological convictions.

Kingdom Death just made $4 million in 19 hrs, that has to be a kickstarter record for board games.

And the only stretch goals revealed so far have been a couple of $15 pin up add-ons. I want to see a few reveals for the gambler's box.

I've been so curious about this game for so long, but I just can't get past the December 2020 release date. That's over 4 years from now! If this guys smart he'll take 75% of the 5 plus million he'll likely net off this campaign, dump it in a 3 year ira or something similar, and still have a year for production left over after it matures while having three years to work on development and a huge nut to live on.

After much deliberation and soul searching, I have decided to not give one single dollar to KD:M.

A game that makes $4 million in sales in 48 hours should not need the Kickstarter circus to get made. At that level of sales, this is a game that should be widely and readily available to anyone and everyone who wants to play it. It should be available at your FLGS, who would benefit financially from having what could be a tentpole product line. It should be professionally mass produced and printed (and thus not 4 years away for the wave 4 stuff). With those sales, pretending like it is some kind of "boutique" title that is "not for everyone" is BEYOND a hipster, indie attitude. This game has outgrown the need for crowdfunding and the cachet of exclusivity. Further, it should be more in line with GW pricing at the level of production I think this game could sustain profitably.

I'm not supporting the way this game is being sold. Sure, it's probably tremendously innovative, singular and maybe even significant. But it doesn't matter because of how it is marketed and sold.

It's not sour grapes- even though Poots dropped it at a time of the year when most people are more worried about spending money on family and friends than themselves, l could go on the Kickstarter and pledge it right now. I almost did. But then I thought about how much I really don't like this sense of "gate keeping" the game. It should have gone into second printing a year ago. Poots should have done the work to make the game available to meet demand. It sounds like good business that he'all flip $10 million worth of these by the end of the year. But the Longview is that if he would maybe step back from he exclusivity he could be making $10 million every year with it. I think it could compete with GW for miniatures supremacy and it could support books, supplements, board games, novels, carrying cases, dice sets...

I don't know if it's hubris, lack of ambition or immaturity holding Poots back...but I don't want to support this game's "boutique" availability at all.

I'm sure the game is cool, but the notion of paying that much up front that far in advance... no thanks.

It was this or canceling my copy of the two GCACW reprints from MMP. If this wasn't a minis game I might have cancelled but I'll never put the minis together or paint them, I just know it. And I'm pretty excited for the Atlanta GCACW and combining Antietam and Gettysburg is a great idea.

I get not supporting the business model but to me, it doesn't offend. He doesn't want to start a corporation or anything like GW. I respect that wish, and KS provides a simple way for him to do this---and never deal with it again if he doesn't want to.

theres still no way in hell this game is better than just playing a decent RPG with a good crowd, whether or not you add on with some nice miniatures.
