My wife bought a new iPad Air, so I got her hand-me-down iPad 2. First purchase was FTL. Seems to be a pretty smooth port, although some of the touch controls will take a little getting used to, but overall it should be a pretty nice alternative. Too bad I have to start my unlock progress at zero. Oh well.

I also picked up Hitman Go. I really like this game. It's a puzzle game with a board game aesthetic, right down to the way you knock other figures off the board when you kill them. There are 15 levels per chapter, and there are currently 5 chapters, with more on the way. The first chapter wasn't much of a challenge, but the second set of levels has some interesting mechanics. I'll be curious to see how difficult it gets.

Dream Quest is great. Stupidly simple artwork, but the game is cool; a roguelike with some deckbuilding elements (Dominion/Ascension style). You will die quickly early on, but as you level-up you'll start to compete well and improve your odds.

$2.99 here: itunes.apple.com/us/app/id870227884?mt=8

Dream Quest is hands down the best game I've played this year. Don't let the crap graphics fool you. This game is brilliant.

Yesterday at lunch I went to an Apple Store and bought an iPod Shuffle. Then I crossed the street and sat in a Starbucks and drank a Mezzo whole-milk latte in a big comfy leather chair with my little trendy Apple Store gift bag sitting upright on the coffee table in front of me.

I would not be surprised if in the next edition of Webster's Collegiate Dictionary to find my picture beside the definition to the word 'yuppie.'

Whole milk? What are you, a baby?

At least now you can participate in this thread without seeming like some kind of interloper.

Oh, by the way... DO NOT get the Alone in the Dark that just came out. The implementation is TERRIBLE. It is literally the DOS version of the game with shoddy IOS controls. Damn you, nostalgia...

Pretty sure Webster's hasn't bothered to define "yuppie" since 1983.

Webster's just added "poutine" in 2014. At first I was outraged, as a Quebecer, that it took this long, but then I rememebered that its a French word and i don't understand why it's even in there in the first place.

Webster understood somebody putting gravy on fries but we're still figuring out the whole adding cheese curds to fries.

Yup, Dream Quest, people. It's amazing. First iOS game I've been obsessed with in a long time.

Also, Mr. Jack Pocket is out now, if you like that kind of deduction game. I have it, but haven't tried it yet. The implementation seems great, though.

Don't know why---but I totally agree. There's a je ne sais quoi about the game. I've got crap to do --- and, like Grudunza, I'm obsessed with the game. FAR more than Warhammer Quest or anything like it. I feel like I'm playing the frickin' stupid game that Wesley Crusher and Ashley Judd were playing in that STNG episode--but this is cooler.

Andy, you have to watch that TNG episode if you like Ashley Judd. It's the hottest she's ever been in anything ever. Super flirty too.

The episode is The Game. It's a good one. It's directly before or after another amazing episode too. I can't remember which.

Heads up, the Small World app may now actually be worthwhile. They upped the game time to 15 days.
