You are right, I'm sure they created the trailer with the sole intention that nobody talks about it at all.

Dissecting it on a boardgame nerds site was exactly why they posted the trailer, I'm sure.

I'll stop being a dick if you stop being a killjoy. They made the trailer for people to talk about it, so of-fucking-course we talk about it. I'm sure they knew beforehand that some people will like it, some people will hate it, and some people will like it with the exception of this or that. Yeah, there are always some who immediately declare that the movie will be shit based on a couple of short cuts, but I don't see any of that here. We are just talking about what we like or dislike about the trailer. Personally I think the new lightsaber looks silly, on the other hand I like that they apparently went for the aesthetics of the original trilogy: everything looks old, used, and functional. I'm not sure about the soccer ball robot, and I'm afraid all the battles will be CGI (as opposed to using models), but such is life.

The most important thing is a good story and good, lovable characters, if they get that right, I will be happy.

Part of the F:AT banner lists Culture and Entertainment. We even have Movie specific forums. Why would we not talk about one of the more significant franchises in film history?

It's one thing admiring and discussing a trailer, quite another dissecting it to bits.

There are fan boy sites for this, surely.

I can understand Thirsty's viewpoint. Now there's a lot of smartasses making "detailed analysis" of everything, defining every loophole, drawing definitions and references from anything they want... completely dissolving movie magic.

It's like a board game reviewer dissecting every single mechanism of a board game while forgetting to notice the overall dynamic of the game...
