SW7 trailer is out
ThirstyMan wrote: O God. If I want to read nerd crap dissecting a friggin' trailer for a film that is 18 months out, I know places.
Please, for all that is holy, don't make this place a nerd discussion centre on the intricacies of friggin' Star Wars mythos.
Christ, can't people at least wait for the film before they start ripping it apart based on a 3s shot?
You are right, I'm sure they created the trailer with the sole intention that nobody talks about it at all.

Dissecting it on a boardgame nerds site was exactly why they posted the trailer, I'm sure.

The most important thing is a good story and good, lovable characters, if they get that right, I will be happy.

Just got the mp3s of Wilko with Roger Daltrey. Perfection.

Michael Barnes wrote: Absolutely one of the most striking things about the trailer, at least at a first impact level, is that he first character we see is a black man in Stormtrooper armor. And a main character at that. It definitely announces that this is a more modern, inclusive SW. Not that SW didn't have black characters...well, three...one of which was practically a Blaxploitation stereotype. Rumor has it that he is actually a Stormtrooper that defects or goes AWOL in some way.
Or it could be like when the gang put themselves in stormtrooper armor to infiltrate some place. In the recent star wars cartoon, the Empire is full of blondes, and the good guys don't have any white people.

Don't get this post at all.
Part of the F:AT banner lists Culture and Entertainment. We even have Movie specific forums. Why would we not talk about one of the more significant franchises in film history?

There are fan boy sites for this, surely.

It's like a board game reviewer dissecting every single mechanism of a board game while forgetting to notice the overall dynamic of the game...

Quick tip: if you don't want to discuss the Force Awakens trailer...don't browse a thread dedicated to it. You. Are. Welcome.

metalface13 wrote: As for the lightsaber, I assume it's some sort of guard. I feel like every iteration of Star Wars has to add upon the lightsaber somehow. Darth Maul's double ended staff thing, General Grievous wielding a million light sabres, the inquisitor guy on Rebels with the spinning double ended lightsaber, etc. Could be Luke, but dark side Luke? Or Luke just carying his dad's last lightsaber (albeit remodified) ... but didn't that fall into the core of the Death Star? I think we can assume it's the villain as the VO says "the dark side" and Sith always use red lightsabers to my knowledge.
I hope they explain the cross guard on a saber because that Sithcalibur thing in the trailer just looks ridiculous. Yes, this is purely a knee-jerk reaction but I accept that.
