Oh my god. Can you imagine if this came out when we were kids? Our heads would literally spin around like a malfunctioning probe droid. This is sick. Now I have to decide on what damn console to buy, ugh :(

It sure does. Trying to plant a towline in just the right spot on an AT-AT while stormtroopers are taking shots at you and a TIE is on your ass, or playing as an Imperial and spawning into an AT-ST that's already in the middle of the action... it sounds like a ton of fun and it looks beautiful.

I certainly don't blame EA for timing the game's release to take advantage of Episode 7's marketing blitz, but I would also bet that there's some new trilogy action coming for the game later. Probably next year, perhaps a DLC map pack that also adds new vehicles and characters. Sounds like a license to print money to me!

The sound effects are great too. And the detail, wow. The star destroyers in the background and everything... oh, man. Couch co-op WUUT?!

The best game of X-Wing I've ever been a part of occurred last night.

Epic game with a Raider list vs. a Corellian Corvette list. It was insane and felt far more grand than my plays of Armada.

I lost my TIE Phantom early and we were off to a poor start but I was able to ionize their K-Wing and kill it before it even fired a missile. They had that thing loaded up with two sets of extra munitions and multiple torps/missiles.

We had a hard time getting our TIE Punisher in the fight but he swung around late and pummeled the CR90.

The Huge Raider was blown up with a couple missile salvos from A-wings and point blank shots from a T-70 X-Wing. The back half was crippled but the front half hung out, practically devoid of energy.

Overall, we focused on taking out their heavy hitting fighters (K-Wing, T-70, Missile A-Wings) while they tried to focus fire on the Raider and we ended up turning the tide and coming away with the victory.

When the game was conceded (after 3 hours), our Punisher still had a couple missiles and 6 hull, our TIE advanced and Howlrunner both had full health, and our Raider was limping along with 5 hull left.

Soontir Fel was our MVP as he finished the night with two X-Wings and an A-Wing painted on his wing (in addition to getting a huge volley into the CR90 late game). Howlrunner managed to keep with him throughout the entire game which helped enormously. It may have been the most effective I've seen her ever.

The kids and I have just burned through a set of batteries on Loopin' Chewie. That's some gaming value right there...

We just went through the batteries on ours too. I almost wish it had an AC adapter.

Somehow we didn't catch that there is an "easy" and "hard" setting on the paddles! That's what I get for not reading the rules...

So now it's kind of a "thing" here...easy is prohibited in championship rounds, and it is allowed- but controversial- if you use it in the elimination stage.

Check it out. Mini card binder coming out from Ultimate Guard. Never heard of the company but I don't get out much.

Rumor has it that Ultra Ho has mini card pages coming out as well.

Played three more games of Star Wars Risk yesterday, in about two hours. Yes its a fast game.

So we've played five games so far, and the Rebel scum are 5-0. After the second game yesterday we sort both verbalized the same thing at the same time - it seems very hard as the Empire. BGG has a couple threads on the subject. Its not massively titled IMO, and there are a few more tactics we want to try. Namely, more the EXECUTOR to the Death Star and spwan TIE fighters like mad.

Also, the Luke/Vader duel seems to be a waste of time for either side. You'll spend more cards killing the other guy than you get as a bonus. And since once that battle is over, the winner can't help out in other areas, there is no sort of long term payoff. Granted, in some ways I like that factor - the winner of the Jedi battle in QUEENS GAMBIT is heavily favored to win unless they emerge with minimal health, placing too much on this sector when in "history" the winner didn't do shit other than maybe light some incense for Liam Neeson or something.

That's as must-buy as must-buy gets for me.

(I am hoping to start seeing some The Force Awakens games, though.)

Will I play it super often? Probably not. Will that stop me from getting it? Probably not.

Looks like the black edition of the Star Wars Risk... thing is out.

Quite the product name: "Star Wars The Black Series Risk Game"

www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Black-Risk-Game/dp/B00SDJGDI8

I'm kind of wondering if I still care about this.
