Kinda don't love the silver and gold colors for the three big minis. Otherwise, I guess it looks cool, but don't know if it justifies paying double the price of the normal version.
I really enjoy the game for what it is. I made mine "deluxe" by picking up old Micromachines off eBay, plus I had a bunch of pewter figures from an old SW Monopoly I got at a thrift store (trashed the game, kept the minis, never knew why until this game). It improves the fun factor over the cardboard, for sure, but I don't know if it justifies the extra cost of the black box edition.
Sigh... I knew I was basically paying $24 to play the game early. Hard to resist. Also the marketing shots seem like the board is a little higher quality (?) but that's probably an illusion.
After thinking about what I would probably rather spend $50 on (basically anything else, since I've played this and it decidedly isn't a $50 game) and staring at that butt-ugly gold Millenium Falcon a little more, the FOMO factor on this one has gone down to nil. Moving on, if I can cancel the damn order.
i went into Toys R Us to pick up Loupin' Louie for a birthday party for our neighbors kid. They didn't have it, discontinued in favour of Loupin Chewie which was more expensive and only plays to three. 10$ more expensive and since Louie was only 20$ that's fucking significant.
I hate Loupin Chewie even more now... didn't think that was possible.
Although I did play some more IA skirmish with my new Boba Fett figure. Fucking love it.
I also saw Risk Star Wars at Toys R Us for 30$... didn't buy it. I'd rather just go play Queens Gambit at this point.
(We were talking about this recently but I couldn't find it.)
Well according to Vasel, ARMADA is coolstuff's #4 best seller in 2015. I guess it's doing a lot better than I thought. It sure didn't seem to attract as much buzz as X-Wing did though.
I think that most people here didn't want to sink money into it after putting so much into X-Wing. I didn't for as long as I could resist, but I've failed. It really is the better game of the two. I wish Armada was the system FFG licensed out because this would have made a tremendous Star Trek game.
