Needing a 5 or 6 on 2d6 is a 2/3 chance to fail, and you need to fail twice to miss, so 4/9 chance of failing. Are we saying the same thing?

Yep. Exact same thing.

(4^2) / (6^2) = (4/6)^2 = (2/3)^2 = 4/9
(4^2) / (6^2) = 16 / 36 = 4/9

I just find it easier (especially with lots of dice) to do 4*4 = 16, keep that in my head, then do 6*6, and then put them together.

All of you Sith Lords just sucked the fun out of playing Star Wars Risk. I'm burning my copy.

Don't look at me, man, I'm the one telling you Luke and Vader should fight.

The Falcon is kind of weak on the attack, but it does come in handy as a meat shield of sorts. Park it in a space, say next to the Death Star or in s space with only a handful of rebel ships. It will take several actions to clear the space, denying the Imperials a bonus card, and it blocks it from Imperials moving in.

This game just seems less and less fun the more I hear about it. Maybe I should just find a copy of Queen's Gambit instead.

I still like the odds.

I need to play with the rules clarifications, as our early games were all Rebel wins. I do think the game has a place alongside Queens Gambit - its much shorter, much cheaper, and easier to lug around.

Pete, don't give up on it. I think you'd really dig it, especially if you don't have QG.

I did only play Queen's Gambit once so maybe I missed all the greatness.

Nah, it just sucked.

We picked up the Black Series, but if you don't care about the (minor) component upgrades the normal edition price is where it's at.

This game is good. It's a 2-player Star Wars game, and it's a proper board game that'll have you making lightsaber and pew-pew noises for an hour or so tops. It's a rules-light game that invites you try different strategies, and even if they don't work it's still fun. It might be being a bit over-hyped around here, though.

The standard edition is a no-brainer. It's way more than $25 worth of fun. The Black Series is a tougher call; it just boils down to whether the aesthetic is worth the price premium to you.

I gave that to my brother. He's a huge SW nutter and he has a son about the age where he was going to love it.

And they did.
