High Frontier 3rd Edition is live. Looks like it includes the basic (ha ha) game, Colonization, and Interstellar when it gets to that stretch goal. What has me interested is some of the updated artwork and supposedly simplified rules.

Same here, cause I am a sucker for High Frontier in any form!

In spite of saying I wouldn't pledge for another game until the 3 I have pledged on arrive I have backed Monstrous:
www.kickstarter.com/projects/1960349413/...ame-of-mythic-mayhem

This is because:
1) Good theme
2) Surprised I haven't seen card throwing as a mechanic before
3) Looks like it will fill that same King of Tokyo niche that I ccan't get enough of
4) I mostly trust the company behind it as they have been good to the Australian Gaming community
5) It is very cheap ($29).

I've backed Reaper Bones 3 at the $1 level just to get updates. I'm still drowning in fantasy minis from Bones 1 but I might get a few a la carte things in the sci-fi/western/horror vein if there's anything good, like the Blackstar Corsairs ($10 add-on for 5). Also, with all of the talk of the Warhammer revamp, some of you might be interested in the Crusaders ($8 add-on for 5). They'd make great Stormcast Eternals proxies if you don't mind waiting until September of next year. :P

I was intrigued by Zombicide: Black Plague but I couldn't in any way justify the cost for such a light game. One of my favorite things I've ever read on the internet (since lost, I wish I could find a copy of it somewhere) was a GM's account of a D&D campaign he ran where the party had to survive a zombie outbreak in a city. Ever since I've been intrigued by the idea of a Dawn of the Dead-style zombie scenario in a fantasy setting. I think Z: BP would scratch that itch but I'm going to wait until some reviews are in after it hits retail.

Where? Not surprised that something has used it before but nothing jumps out at me (but then I don't have the most encyclopedic knowledge of games).

I was kind of joking because my design, A Fistful Of Dinero, uses it. The game's not about throwing cards but some of the cards in the game (Knife, Dynamite, Chair, Table) are physically thrown at other player's mats.

I had not heard of Maximum Throwdown until recently but that does it too.

I have not ever backed a thing until this: Mare Nostrum- Empires. It's a reboot of the original with improvements. I am a sucker for some DoaM. Just call me Gamer Fred.

Mare Nostrum - Empires' differs from the original Mare Nostrum in several key ways, with new improvements that add to the experience of the game. Some significant changes improve the pacing of the game, and others represent subtle changes that improve the balance and quality of play.

'Victory Conditions'
Mare Nostrum - Empires add two more victory conditions, beyond the original building of the Great Pyramids and collecting 5 Heroes and/or Wonders. Now victory can be achieved by expanding your empire and controlling 4 Capital and/or Legendary Cities, or by holding the titles of Trade, Culture and Military Leader. Players can now follow completely different strategies in their empire expansions!

'Resources & Game Components'
Tax and Good Resources in Mare Nostrum - Empires are represented by thick counters.
A 13th trade resource has been added to the game.
The number of buildings has been increased from 58 to 72.
Heroes and Wonders are now represented by high quality tiles rather than cards. These Heroes and Wonders add new capabilities to game play and also influence the Leadership tracks.
The map board is now fully adaptable for 3-5 players. We have unlocked the Leadership mapboard, which adds a LOT to game play.
We have also unlocked the 2-player rules, which are fully developed and ready to be printed! And, we have added the Barbarians, which make the 2 player game even more difficult to play. (Evil laugh in the background :)

'Trade Phase'
Trading has been revamped and features an all new system.
The Trade Leader is limited to 3 choices for Resource exchange: He has three Exchange tokens marked with '0 or 5', '1 or 2', and '3 or 4', that dictate the number of resources each player must offer for trade. All three Exchange tokens must be played before they may be reused. This adds a lot of tactics and strategy.

Legendary Cities have been added to the game, which produce one hidden resource known only to the controller of the city. This is a subtle change that allows players to keep their opponents guessing as to what resources they have gathered.

'Build Phase'
Recruitment and Building of Heroes and Wonders has been revamped to be a gradient cost starting at 6 Resources, increasing by 1 Resource with each purchase. The 5th Heroes or Wonder has a cost of 10. This allows each player to reasonably recruit or build at least 2-3 Heroes or Wonders over the course of the game, adding depth to each strategy.
Another streamlining change allows players to build in a Province on the same turn in which they have spread Influence into the Province.

'Battle Phase'
Mare Nostrum - Empires now includes Legion and Trireme Battle Dice that differ from each other. Legion Battle Dice have a range of 3-6 with faces 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6 and Trireme Sea Battle Dice have a range of 2-5 with faces 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5. This means that battles have less randomness and more strategy involved, as well as limiting the ability to fully blockage a player with a few naval units.
Fortresses also have the ability to absorb one hit during a battle, expanding their overall usefulness.
These changes balance battles by removing some of the randomness and improving the overall quality of the experience.

Good news backers of my game Aerial Assault should have received their copy in in mail. Thank you much F:AT member who back the project. That was a big help getting the project off the ground. Message me or post on the game page of BGG if you have question about the rules. For anyone going to WBC we'll be demoing the game 7:00 PM on Tuesday or anytime somebody needs a demo.

If anyone is interested in a copy of the game. The game is $25.00 for the base game 2-4 players or $35.00 for the deluxe version that 5-6 players can play. Message me and I'll send you a copy.

hey so my first Kickstarter experience was a flop. playdek had said that the Twilight Struggle digital edition would be also for Xbox One so I sent them 55 bucks. When they ask me, a year later, what system I want it for, they don't give Xbox One as an option. So I write them and the customer service rep is super nice and tells me I can get my money back. So i asked for it today.

If i get my money back, I'll be singing playdek's praises forever. Maybe GMT's as well.

My son is bringing this to his Robotics Party night in a week or two and plans to show it off. They're big on cooperative games so I'm thinking its team play will be a hit.

Nice game by the way. Nice package too. I'm bringing it on vacation for play with the cousins.

That's terrific to hear. When designing the game I imagined a bunch of teenagers cheering on their robot alliance to victory, not a bunch grumpy old beard scratchers playing the game silently.
